We understand that you have a range of interests and passions, but are hopeful that there is room to add your hometown roots to the list, whether to "pay it back" for life benefits received or to pay it forward to future generations of strivers. This is certain: your donation will make a real impact in our small town.
This website's Exploration Hub (1-6) is intended to provide insight into purpose and goals at both strategy and tactical levels. This video provides a visual overview.
The Donation Planning Issues (below) are helpful in dialog about potential engagement.
STEPS TOWARD POTENTIAL ENGAGEMENT
- Consider becoming a Founding Fifty donor -- the group that will provide initial seed funding that brings the foundation to life. Contact Us... direct contact with Bill Corbin or via form
- Consider the possibility of an estate bequest, a step that can be taken simply, now.
- Explore other potential Foundation Funds
- Consider an emergency donation to the ACTION FUND: www.UnionCityAlumni.org
The Covid-19 impact is somewhere near terrifying, especially for teachers.
The Foundation is in constant dialog with the school about trends in education and potential cost impact. This knowledge supports detailed discussion about avenues for maximum impact of donated dollars.
Estate bequests and related planned giving help assure an ongoing revenue stream. For a new foundation, immediate gifts are important for the initial funding that "seeds" the Foundation's ability to launch powerfully. Donors may also choose to support specific evolving projects via immediate gifts, sometimes installments.
In 21st Century education, needs tend to be NOW, vs. easily supported by earnings from endowed funds. We are encouraging a maximim of eight years as a usage rate, with one-to-two year being a possibility for specific supported projects. Details are negotiable and your wishes will be honored, of course.
Because there is not a direct correlatioin between value of a donation and the timeframe of its usage, we are using a Legacy Donor Wall concept, with supporting recognition online and in printed materials.
Your gift can be recognized by specific fund: ACTION, R&D, IMPACT, VISION, SCHOLARSHIP. We can also recognize the curriculum focus: Innovation/Technology Arts & Music, Business/Communication, Special Needs. Your donation can also be In Memory of... or In Appreciation of.
The Foundation recommends maximum flexibility in the use of donated funds, simply because the rate of change keeps accelerating. It is impossible to see deep enough into the future to assure that uses won't become obsolete or timeframes unrealistically long. You can also agree to certain flexibilities, for example an eight-year planned timeframe might allow one double-up to meet an unexpected cost.
